Livestrong LS15.0T Treadmill Review

In this article we are going to take a closer look at the LIVESTRONG Fitness LS15.0T treadmill, and give you as much information about this model to help you make a more informed decision.

When you see the latest version of the Livestrong LS15.0T, you will see that it looks quite striking, almost futuristic in its design. It also looks very solid, and when you start using it you will realize that it not only looks solid, but really feels it too.

It does not seem to have the softer cushioning like some treadmills in this price range, but it does not feel too hard either. But it certainly feels incredibly stable and even for a heavier person (it supports a user weight of up to 350 pounds) you can work hard and it remains solid.

Specifications for the Livestrong LS15.0T

The Livestrong LS15.0T is a powerful machine, and when you see that it has a 2.75 CHP motor you will understand why. The power and torque of the machine result in a very smooth transition from the lower speeds through to the higher speeds. Also, the time it takes to go through the speed range is quite impressive for a home use treadmill.

The motor also runs very quietly, which again is essential if you are going to be using this in your home. When you set the machine up for the first time, make sure you apply plenty of grease, as you want it to be well lubed from the off, and not have to take it apart again in a few months to apply more. The belt grips the wheels fine, no slipping experienced even when moving through the speeds quickly.

Ease of set up

Unfortunately the set up instructions are not that detailed, so don’t expect to have really clear diagrams of every step of the process. But on the plus side the Livestrong LS15.0T is not actually that complicated to put together. So you should be able to use the limited instructions to guide you the right way; and it can be done on your own too if you do not have a spare pair of hands to help you.

Workout programs

You get 12 varied workout programs built into the Livestrong LS15.0T treadmill. These programs are very good; they really cover a wide range of running courses and will give you a lot of options to work with. You also get a manual program so you can work to your own preferences. Here is a breakdown of the workout programs provided:

  • Weight loss
  • Strength builder
  • Peak intervals
  • 5K, 10K, and Mellow Johnny’s Trail
  • Workouts manual
  • Muscle toner
  • Max Cardio
  • Climb
  • Speed intervals
  • The Tour
  • Custom 1 and Custom 2

Speed range and incline ability

Some people prefer to use their treadmills for walking, either on the flat or with an incline. While others will like to run on the treadmill, and some at quite a pace too. So the Livestrong LS15.0T treadmill does give you quite a wide range of both speed range and incline ability to cater for all needs and training requirements.

The speed range goes from 0.5 MPH up to 12 MPH. This will give you the ability to really vary your training session if you like to go through a different amount of speeds during your session. The speed can quickly be changed whenever you want from the console, and the LS15.0T also moves through the range of speeds quite quickly.

The Livestrong LS15.0T also has a 15% power incline capability. This means you can change the incline automatically from the console, and this can be done while you are working out too. This incline ability gives you even more variety in your work out sessions, and lets you target different muscle groups and also add a different dimension to your training.

Dimensions of the LS15.0T

The LS15.0T is quite a large and bulky treadmill, so you will need to make sure that you do have enough space in the desired location. But this model is also equipped with a fold away deck, so when not in use you can simply raise the running deck so that it does not take up all the space in the room when it is not being used. The dimensions for the LS15.0T are as follows:

  • Length = 76 inches
  • Width = 35 inches
  • Height = 64 inches
  • Weight = 262 pounds
  • Weight capacity = 350 pounds

The size of the running deck is also quite large, and certainly bigger than many other treadmills in this price range. The width of the running deck is a wide 20 inches, and the length is 60 inches, so even for taller people with a longer stride you are getting plenty of room to work with.

Livestrong LS13.0T treadmillConsole

The large 8.5 inch blue backlit LCD display is one of the best we have seen. It is really clear to read, no matter what the light is like in the room. It also displays all of the relevant information in a well laid out manner that is easy to see when you are working out. The buttons to adjust all of the settings and programs are color coded and clearly labeled too, so very easy to operate.

There is a large holding area at the bottom of the console, so you can place your drink, iPod or any MP3 player. You can also rest a book or a kindle or iPad on the console so you can watch a movie or some music videos as you train.

There are two speakers located either side of the console. The sound is adequate, not brilliant and can be a little tinny at times. The built in fan does not do a sufficient job of keeping you cool, it just isn’t big enough to produce the kind of air flow required to keep you cool as you train, so do not rely on this.

The two ergonomically designed handle grips that contain the heart rate monitors are well positioned so they do not get in the way at all as you train. They are comfortable to hold onto as you train, you do not have to alter your position much like you do on some treadmills.

Overall design

This latest model of the Livestrong LS15.0T treadmill is a lot more solidly built than previous models. There are a lot of plastic covering plates around the bottom of the frame, you just need to be careful that they do not catch on anything if you are moving the machine at all. Bit over all the LS13.0T is very well made and feels very stable when being used.

Final thoughts on the Livestrong LS15.0T treadmill

While there are some imperfections on this machine, such as the poor fan and the quality of the sound, these things will probably not be deal breakers for most. This machine has been very well made, and it is solid and strong. If you are a heavier person and you are concerned about getting a treadmill that will hold up over time, then this model is certainly strong and durable enough for that.

The Livestrong LS15.0T is a good quality treadmill; you will get a lot of benefit out of this and be able to really diversify your training programs too. It is certainly comparable with the best treadmills in this price range, so you will be getting value for your money if you do decide on this model.
