Proform Pro 2000 Treadmill Review

The mid range category of treadmills seems to be full of a lot of very capable models that provide quality and value for money. The Proform Pro 2000 treadmill has receivedProform Pro 2000 awards from consumer magazines for its quality, and when you see this treadmill for the first time you will understand why.

Very nicely designed, the ProForm PRO 2000 looks every bit the award winner. It all seems to be in perfect proportion and it feels extremely comfortable to work out on for both short and taller people. It has a lot of features that really help you to optimize your work out sessions, and get the most out of your time spent on this treadmill.

The powerful motor on this model gives you a very consistent motion when you walk or run. Even if you want to run harder on this machine it will provide you with the responsiveness you need to confidently go about your workout, knowing that it will handle everything that you throw at it.

For heavier people, this Proform Pro 2000 has a max. weight capacity of 350 pounds, and even if you are on the limit, it will still give you the power and smooth motion throughout your workout. The belt is also very strong, and grips well so you will not get any belt slip as you step down onto it.

Specifications for the Proform Pro 2000 treadmill

Ease of setup

As far as big heavy treadmills go (and this is both), the Proform Pro 2000 is actually relatively easy to set up. You should try and get an extra pair of hands to give you help to move it into the desired location, and to set it up if possible.

But if you will be setting it up on your own, it is actually fairly straight forward, and certainly very achievable. The instructions are clear to follow, and no really fiddly bits to hold you up. Give yourself a few hours to get the assembly done, although a proficient hand can probably get it done in about 2 hours.

Motor power

As mentioned already, you get plenty of power with the Pro 2000, and this comes from the 3.25 CHP Mach Z commercial pro motor. It uses high end bearings and brushes that are of commercial grade, so you get that powerful yet smooth and quiet drive from the machine.

The Proform Pro 2000 also goes through rigorous testing to ensure the performance of each machine is at the highest level, and you will certainly get this impression when you step onto the deck and start using it for the first time. It is spin balanced so you get the most accurate and responsive motion at any speed and level you are using on the machine.

Proform Pro 2000 treadmillDimensions and space saving ability

The Pro 2000 is about the average size for a treadmill in this category. It is quite a large and heavy machine, but anything that is good quality such as this treadmill will have to have bigger and heavier components to give it the power and strength to produce the results you are looking for.

You are able to fold the running deck away on the Proform Pro 2000 when it is not in use, so you do have some space saving ability with this treadmill too. The deck will fold up to about a 70 degree angle, so you will not have the large footprint of the machine taking up space when it is not in use.

To operate the foldaway system is easily done, and the deck can be raised or lowered in a matter of a few seconds. You still need to ensure that you have enough room to use the treadmill properly when it is lowered, so here are the actual dimensions for the treadmill when the running deck is down:

  • Lenth = 80 inches
  • Width = 36 inches
  • Height = 73.5 inches
  • Weight capacity = 350 pounds
  • Weight = 256 pounds

Speed and incline

To get the variation from your workouts and to also have the ability to really push yourself more when you want, you need to have a good range of both speed and incline capabilities. The Proform Pro 2000 is equipped with a speed range of 0 to 12 MPH, which is pretty much standard for the better treadmills in this price range now.

The incline option for the Pro 2000 is what is really great. The incline range goes up to 15%, which again is pretty much standard. But it also goes down to -3%, which is a feature that you do not find on many other models.

What this does is it gets you using a lot of new muscles that would never usually be used much when you are running on a level or a raised incline. So you are getting even more variety options for your workouts.

Built in workout programs

You get a total of 24 workout programs built into the Proform Pro 2000 treadmill, and these are spread across a variety of goals, with the breakdown as follows:

With all of these different options you are able to fine tune your workouts which will help you achieve your desired goals a lot quicker. iFit compatibility

The Pro 2000 comes with iFit compatibility. This is an additional feature and to use the iFit program to its full extent you need to purchase the wireless adapter separately, which will cost you an additional $100. This option will not be for everybody due to the significant additional cost of it, but if you do decide to purchase the adapter you will be able to use the iFit program to your benefit.

As iFit is linked up with Google MAPS, you have the ability to design your own training courses from anywhere in the world practically. You can then upload the details to the Proform Pro 2000 via the wireless adapter and run to any route you want.

You also have the ability to track your efforts for each workout you do, and you can upload these to your iFit membership account (you get this free when you buy the adapter). This will help you keep track of your progress and let you see exactly the achievements you make along the way.

User consoleProform-Pro-2000-5a

This is a really intuitive console, and you can access all of the features very quickly and make any changes you need to make to programs and incline etc with the touch of a button. The large backlit display is readable no matter what angle you are facing it (this is a problem with a lot of other treadmills). All of the information shown on the display is very clear and easy to read.

You are able to plug your iPod or MP3 player into the console and play your music through the built in sound system. The speakers are actually fairly good, you get a nice clear sound out of them and perfectly adequate to use to train to.

The large CoolAire fan going across the bottom of the console does do a fairly good job of keeping a consistent flow of air blowing on you, still not great, but certainly better than a lot of treadmills with built in fans.

This treadmill is a really good option for anyone looking for a good quality model to use at home. It provides a really solid and stable base to run on. Even if you are a larger person, you will not feel any wobble or instability on this machine when you start using it. The motion you get from it is really smooth too, the power of the motor really gives you that smooth consistent operation.
