Sole Fitness is renowned for making top quality cardio fitness equipment, and they have an extensive range of treadmills, exercise bikes and elliptical trainers. In this article Sole F63 treadmillwe are going to take a closer look at the Sole F63 treadmill and see what this particular model has to offer, and whether it lives up to the usual high standards that Sole provides.

The Sole F63 is a folding treadmill, so it is ideal for home use. The latest model has some excellent additions to it, and really provides a very solid feeling platform to walk and run on. The running surface is also very large when compared to other treadmills in this price range, so you get a lot of freedom of movement and this will give you more confidence when running on it too.

One thing you will notice when you start to use the Sole F63 treadmill is just how smooth the drive system is on this model. It is very responsive, so when you change the speed you will see an immediate and accurate response from the machine. The belt does not slip at all either, whether running on the machine when it is cold, or if you increase the speed the belt holds firm for each step you take.

A detailed look at the Sole F63 treadmill

Running platform

Sole F63A lot of design thought and innovation has gone into the running deck of the Sole F63 treadmill, with the aim of providing you with a really comfortable running base that cushions and reduces impact as much as possible. The CushionFlex suspension system that the F63 uses really does an excellent job of absorbing the impact of every step, so you do not get that jarring feeling going through your legs.

The WhisperDeck technology also makes for a really quiet performance, which again is ideal for using in a home. The dual belts are woven two ply, so you actually get 4 layers, and two of these layers are rubber based with the nylon backing to them. This design configuration helps to provide a soft step, reduce noise and also is extremely durable so you should get a lot of year’s usage out of the belts.

Motor and drive system

The Sole F63 treadmill has a 3 continuous duty horse power motor, which has plenty of power and torque behind it. This is what gives the F63 the really smooth drive system, and when coupled with the steel zinc coated balanced flywheels, you get a running deck that is vibration free and extremely comfortable to run on.

Dimensions of the Sole F63

While the footprint of the Sole F63 is fairly large when the deck is down, you do have the added benefit of the deck being able to fold away. This will create a lot more space for you and free up the room when the treadmill is not in use. The actual dimensions for the F63 are as follows:

  • Height = 58 inches
  • Length = 80 inches
  • Width = 33 inches
  • Weight = 253 pounds
  • Weight capacity = 325 pounds

Foldaway deck

The folding deck feature is an excellent addition to the Sole F63, it really does make it an ideal home use treadmill. The deck is really easy to raise and lower too, it is all done on hydraulics. The Easy Assist Folding Deck design allows you to lower the deck with the flick of a lever. The deck lowers really slowly down into position; you do not need to be holding the deck at all while it goes through this motion.

The patented rack and pinion system has a safety lock design, so when the deck is in the raised position it is locked safely in place so you do not have to worry about it ever falling down. The whole process of lowering and raising the deck is done quickly and effortlessly, so will not have to wait around while it goes through the maneuver.

Large user console

The console is another really impressive aspect to the Sole F63 treadmill. It is big and solidly built, and the design has clearly been really well thought out and put together. The large 6.5 inch blue LCD screen on the console is clear and easy to read.

It displays all if the normal relevant information, such as time, speed, heart rate, calories burned etc. To change any settings or programs is also very easy to do, with the configuration of the buttons being clearly laid out.

There is a fan built into the top of the console. It is not the worst fan we have experienced, but it seems that it is very hard to find a fan in any cardio equipment that really blows hard onto your face. It will help a little, but not a lot. The two speakers either side of the console do work quite well, and certainly produce a clear sound when you play your music through them.

Speed and incline capability

You get quite a good range of both speed and incline capabilities with the Sole F63. For the speed range, you can go as low as 1 mph and increase it all the way up to 12 mph. This will give even the fitter runners plenty of running sped to use.

The incline goes up to 15%, so you can really diversify your walking or running sessions by utilizing this feature. The incline can be changed automatically from the console, and can be altered while you are still on the running deck.

One thing that we were not too happy with regarding the incline was the fact that once the deck was at the highest incline level, you could not hold onto the heart rate monitor grips without crouching down to do so. For a taller person, this would be a problem if you wanted to use the heart rate monitors built into the handle grips.

Workout programs

Many people prefer to work out to their own specifications, and you are able to do this on the Sole F63 treadmill using the two custom programs. You also get six standard Sole-F63-treadmill-5aprograms, with a variety of courses to work out too. Plus two heart rate programs too, so if you wanted to focus on your heart rate then these are what you should be using.

Size of the running deck

This is another thing we loved about the Sole F63 treadmill, you get so much space to walk and run on with the large running deck used for this model. Many treadmills in this price range have much smaller running surfaces, so this was really a pleasant surprise to see just how big it was. The actual size of the running deck is as follows:

  • Length = 60 inches
  • Width = 20 inches

Manufacturer warranty

Sole Fitness provides a pretty solid warranty on the F63. This is what you get when you order from Sole Fitness directly:

  • Frame – Lifetime
  • Motor – Lifetime
  • Deck – 3 Years
  • Electronics – 3 Years
  • Labor – 1 Year

Final thoughts on the Sole F63 treadmill

The one fault we had with the F63 was the inability to hold onto the heart rate monitors while the incline was raised without having to crouch down. Other than that, we found the F63 to be a really solid treadmill that runs really smoothly and quietly. You can feel the power and torque of the motor as soon as you start to walk or run on the machine.

The deck is also really comfortable to run on, you will not feel any jarring impact on your feet or leg joints when you run. The large running deck also gives you the confidence to really open up and use some of the speed capability that the F63 provides.

We would say, that for the money that you can purchase the Sole F63 treadmill for you are getting a tremendous machine here, with a lot of really good quality features and components.
